Hi; I’m Jana. I’m a mom of two grown kids, and wife of 30+ years.
In 2014, I lost more than 30 pounds and have kept it off — without feeling deprived! But more importantly, I now have more energy and confidence than I’ve had in decades.
It’s my hope that this book will help people who are where I was “before”: discouraged by past failures, hopeless about making any real, permanent change.
In addition to my own weight loss story, the connection between food and health is a very personal topic for me because I lost my mom to Alzheimer’s. We lost her slowly, bit by agonizing bit, over the course of ten years. She missed three grandkids’ graduations and a wedding in that time.
As I educated myself about her disease, I learned that Alzheimer’s is very closely tied to type 2 diabetes, which can be significantly improved and in some cases reversed by diet.
Sadly, I learned it too late to save my mom. She finally went Home to Jesus in 2015.
But there are people who still have time! I want to save other moms, dads, and grandparents from missing out on life while they’re still living.
And it’s not just diabetes that robs us of life while we’re still living: it’s achy joints, and lack of energy, and foggy brain. It’s discouragement and guilt about how helpless we feel to make permanent, meaningful changes.
If you can relate to any of that, this book is for you!
I want to give you the tools you need to figure out the unique, personal changes you need to make to get and stay healthy. To be sure you’re there for all the graduations, the weddings, the baby showers — but not just “there,” not just existing: truly alive and able to celebrate!
